Wigginton and Hopwas Parish Council is a non-political elected body forming the first tier of Local Government.

The Parish Council has the same status as a Town or City Council, and both are sometimes knows as “Local Councils”.  As Councillors, we represent you, the elector and resident in the Parish.

The Council comprises seven members, acting rather like the Board of a Company.   All Councillors work on a voluntary basis.

THERE IS CURRENTLY A VACANCY FOR A COUNCILLOR SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BEING COOPTED ON TO THE COUNCIL PLEASE SPEAK TO ONE OF THE COUNCILLORS OR THE CLERK.

The Clerk, as a Proper Officer of the Council in law has a number of specific duties and responsibilities in executing the resolutions of the Council and advising on points of law and procedure.

On this site we will:

  • Make our activities on your behalf more open

  • Encourage more people to attend our Parish Council Meetings

  • The most important objective of this site is to give you an idea of what your Parish Council does on your behalf and more importantly - what we spend your money on
